Position Overview As a key member of the Applied Engineering group, the Senior Engineer will be working in project teams to develop superior rolled aluminum products. Working closely with colleagues in research and manufacturing, the incumbent will be responsible for the quality of assignments with moderate scope and complexity involving application of standard engineering practices, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. This would involve leading/performing routine and non-routine testing and characterization relevant to aluminum products and processes. Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities:
Leverage the Novelis Systems and Safety Principles to create a zero-injury culture. Follow all plant EHS policies, standards and procedures Lab Responsible of the Instrumentation Laboratory which includes ensuring calibration of applicable equipment, writing SOPs, maintain training records, documenting engineering, working within the site's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), etc. Identify areas of potential improvement in processes, equipment, and testing to increase efficiency in the site's laboratories and pilot lines Develop and implement innovative engineering, programming and automation systems that drive testing and process improvements in the Kennesaw laboratories & pilot lines Ability to interpret and diagnose problems, seek contributions, and initiate actions to prevent and/or overcome problems Prepare documentation for implemented designs (mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, etc.) Utilize programming and automation knowledge to maintain and troubleshoot pilot line equipment Must be willing to keep current with the ever-changing technology, balancing it with the needs of the operations to bring forth improvements in process control, process automation and process management systems and methods Utilize PLC programming software (g., Studio 5000) to generate logic for controlling equipment Machine Safeguarding SME for the site Maintain 5S and housekeeping within area of responsibility Give and receive feedback openly, honestly, and respectfully Maintain a climate of consistency, trust, and employee involvement
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or related discipline Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience, or equivalent experience preferred Strong communication skills required Strong industrial communications and networking skills (operational technology and informational technology) Experience with Siemens & Rockwell systems High level skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Able to effectively present technical information to peers or superiors in the technical community Proven ability to work independently as well as lead/participate on teams and work in a matrix environment Proven experience as a self-starter, who effectively manages multiple tasks, achieves results with minimal supervision and possesses excellent documentation and record-keeping skills Proficient in AutoCAD & Inventor Excellent interpersonal, planning and organizing, time management and effective oral and written communication skills. Motivated, goal oriented, ethical and challenge driven.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
