Position Overview As a member of the Modeling team, the Co-Op will collaborate with Novelis project teams and partnering universities to accelerate the learning curves of new technology and equipment in innovation. This co-op will work at Kennesaw R&D center to provide experimental data to support the development of Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) framework to track the microstructural evolution of can body stock (CBS) during hot rolling, self-annealing and cold rolling. The co-op will have hands-on experience conducting and coordinating lab-scale experiments ranging from microscopy to mechanical tests, in addition to gaining direct exposure to sophisticated material model development. Apply today! Responsibilities & Qualifications Responsibilities Demonstrate personal commitment to safety by following Novelis safety rules and equipment operating processes. Overall accountability for ensuring safety as the #1 priority. Work with the R&D team and lab to deliver assigned project commitments, timelines and technical requirements. Plan, organize and execute experiments for project needs. Document results of experiments and product performance investigations in technical reports. Qualifications Completed Bachelors or 4th year student in Mechanical/Materials Engineering. Masters' students in Mechanical/Materials Engineering preferred. Capability to thrive in team environment, communicate well, and to engage and influence cross-functional teams within the R&D organization Experience in optical microscopy and EBSD measurements Experience in mechanical testing (experience with Gleeble preferred) Data analysis skills (e.g. Matlab MTEX) Aluminum sheet product processing preferred Excellent problem solving, communication and presentation skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Systems Architecture & EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
