Senior Metallurgical Engineer

Position Overview As a key member of the Product and Process Technology Group within Novelis Global Research and Technology Center (NGRTC), the Senior Metallurgical Engineer will be working in project teams to develop superior rolled aluminum products with enhanced combinations of performance, processing efficiency and recyclability. Working closely with colleagues in research and in manufacturing, or working with customers and outside organizations, the job-holder will strive to turn innovative science and technology into robust, working solutions. This will involve driving successful completion of value stream-priority R&D projects on schedule, scope and cost, and providing technical support/metallurgical expertise for new product and process development. There will be opportunity to travel, to collaborate with colleagues in Novelis' plants and regional technology centers around the globe, and to support customers. The role provides potential for growth towards technical and team leadership, and a real chance to play an important part in the future success of Novelis' fast growing global businesses in automotive, packaging, aerospace and specialty markets. #LI-Hybrid#LI-GP1 Responsibilities & Qualifications Responsibilities The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Balance priorities across multiple projects or work streams to meet assigned project commitments, timelines and deliverables Lead and support R&D projects to pass through the stage gate process, and deliver on critical milestones within timeline and budget Plan and execute scale-up trials in plants to ensure operational/process readiness of the new products Work with cross-functional teams across Novelis in all geographic locations; work seamlessly with all stakeholders including R&D, Operations, Commercial and external partners Assist with feasibility studies to analyse the commercial and technical viability of new products and processes Plan, organize, execute and document results of experiments, plant trials and product performance investigations conducted for Novelis, customers, and suppliers Create intellectual property to differentiate Novelis from the competition and maintain its leadership position Enhance R&D capability including methods and techniques, equipment, and quality in order to build innovation capability that best leverages CAPEX investments Demonstrate personal commitment to safety by following Novelis safety rules and equipment operating processes with overall accountability to ensure safety as the #1 priority Education Bachelors in Materials Science/Metallurgical Engineering Required; Masters in Materials Science/Metallurgical Engineering preferred Experience Required Minimum of 7 years of industrial experience in product development and Materials/Metallurgical Engineering; experience managing projects is a plus Specific experience related to aluminum products for application in various markets would be a distinct advantage, although applicants with relevant research experience in other metals would also be considered Proven project management experience and skills with a track record of technical leadership would be an advantage Experience with Automotive OEM/Tier 1 preferred
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Industrial EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
