Summary:
The Business Development Lead will work heavily alongside engineering and operations personnel and will serve the function of nurturing existing client relationships as well as developing new ones within the power distribution space.
Ideal candidates will take part in the following day to day responsibilities Perform business development of clients and business opportunities through direct client contact to capture new and follow-on work and expand service offerings.
Review and respond to RFI, RFPs, and RFQs, and assist in preparing proposals.
Participate in strategic growth initiatives to expand client and delivery footprint.
Develop and implement competitive strategies for acquiring targeted clients and expanding the relationship with existing clients.
Develop detailed client capture strategies to achieve success in our target markets.
Develop strategies to address client risk, execution concerns, and stakeholder issues.
Lead Proposal Go/No Go and Bid/No Bid discussions Work with Account & Project managers on strategic pursuits, including proposal development and client meetings, and help to maintain strong relationships with key leaders.
Lead and mentor Account and Project Managers on strategic pursuits including proposal development and client meetings and help maintain strong relationships with key leaders within the organization Work with technical staff to ensure technical reports are completed per client requests.
Effectively and collaboratively work with key stakeholders from Operations, Marketing, Proposal Groups.
Drive organic growth of operation through new service areas and expansion of existing service areas.
Preferred Qualifications/ skills Prior experience in business development position for engineering consultancy firms who service large scale utility providers Existing connections within the power distribution/utility space Required Qualifications / skills Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or similar discipline.
Minimum of 10 experience in engineering or power utility industry.
Minimum of 5 years of business development success in the Electric Utility sector.
A strategic planner with demonstrated skill and success in business development Strong interpersonal and communication skills -- ability to adjust messaging to all levels of stakeholders and establish strong client/employee relationships Proven track record of developing, retaining, and maintaining clients.
Proven relationships with clients in the power industry and EPC, project developers.
Ability to communicate highly technical engineering data to a range of audiences from industry partners, governing bodies, and stakeholders.
Experience developing and making presentations to potential clients, especially in conference settings.
Experience in responding to requests for qualifications and proposals from clients and in preparing proposals and proposal coordination.
Proficient with Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Have strong communications skills both written and oral.
Ability to travel on business 20-40% of the time.
