7K a year General Nature of Work The purpose of this classification is to assist customers and to provide administrative support to the Building Services and Planning and Zoning Departments.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this position.
The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs customer service functions by telephone and in person; provides information and assistance related to division services, activities, procedures, fees, forms, or other issues; assists the public in completing applications and other forms as needed; responds to questions/complaints, researches problems.
Receives applications ; schedules applicants for appearance before Planning Commission and Council.
; accepts documents associated with building services and planning and zoning, maintains daily logs of work activities; prepares and scans files; enters information into appropriate software programs; Maintains collateral information regarding zoning and land use and construction activities.
Coordinates a variety of meetings and appointments; schedules meetings and maintains calendar; prepares meeting agenda and materials; assists in recording, preparing and distributing minutes; notifies applicants and other involved parties of decisions and/or ordinances.
Researches records for homeowners, contractors, or city officials as needed; researches ownership and other information; compiles and submits information.
Compiles and/or monitors various administrative, financial and/or statistical data.
Processes accounts receivable and accounts payable and other financial documentation for the departments; prepares and processes purchase orders; enters deposit information in computer systems; assists with the preparation of department budgets; maintains related documentation.
Maintains file system of various files/records for the assigned area; prepares files, organizes documentation, and files documents in designated order; retrieves/replaces files; scans records into computer; shreds/destroys confidential or obsolete documents; conducts records maintenance activities in compliance with guidelines governing record retention.
Performs other administrative support tasks, which may include typing and composing correspondence, memos and reports, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, or processing incoming/outgoing mail.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, logs, meeting minutes.
Operates a personal computer, general office equipment, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Data Utilization:
Requires the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data.
Includes exercising discretion in determining data classification, and in referencing such analysis to established standards for the purpose of recognizing actual or probable interactive effects and relationships.

Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance to clients and general public.
Requires high level of customer service aptitude.
Verbal Aptitude:
Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.
Ability to communicate effectively to customers and staff.
Mathematical Aptitude:
Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs.
Functional Reasoning:
Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
MININUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in Accounting, Secretarial Sciences, or a related field; supplemented by two (2) year(s) of experience in customer service or clerical work, preferably in a community development or government setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
