About the Role
The Global Technology Director, Can and Specialties leads the development of strategic product technology platforms in the beverage can and specialties product segments and drives them into commercialization, enabling the introduction of new or differentiated products in the market. The beverage can market accounts for approximately 64% of Novelis' shipments, and Novelis is the world's largest producer of beverage can products. Novelis provides can body and end stock, as well as specialized products (bottle, etc), to the world's largest beverage can manufacturers in all regions, except Africa. The Specialties market accounts for approximately 20% of Novelis' shipments. This segment is comprised of a diverse array of high margin products, serving thousands of low volume customers with specialized applications such as electronics and architectural, including anodized and painted and other finished products.
The Global Technology Director must demonstrate a high degree of strategic technology leadership, with an ability to establish relationships and influence across the organization, including commercial, operations, and other business partners as well as with customers. The incumbent must also lead operational integration of activities which are diverse in nature and objectives, and coordinate R&D activities on a global basis.
Responsibilities:
This role will be mainly responsible for leading the development of strategic product technology platforms in the can and specialties segments and driving them into commercialization with commercial and operations partners. Key deliverables include the following:
Develop and maintain relationships with key customers to position Novelis as a partner of choice
Create a global team spirit in which there is a full communication of customer needs, market requirements, operational issues and R&D insights
Lead development of technology roadmaps to develop new product platforms and processes which allow differentiation of products in the market
Lead a team of Engineers and Scientist for the Can and Specialties product lines; promote leadership development, build technical skills throughout Can and Specialties organizations, help drive culture of innovation
Manage the R&D project portfolio to ensure completion of projects with high performance, including coordination of R&D resources and alignment of customers, commercial, and operations interest
Proactively identify opportunities to protect intellectual property during development and discovery; partner with legal as needed
Qualifications
A track record of achievement, accountability, and effectively managing innovation and technology from trend forecasting and fundamental R&D through product development, engineering, market launch, and life cycle support with outstanding customer centricity across a wide array of market segments. Preferably, the candidate will have experience in beverage packaging and other segments relevant to Novelis.
Experience in managing a steering committee involving functional and business leaders across a global corporation. Outstanding integrity, influencing skills, leadership development, and consensus building.
Experience managing a diverse organization/group, preferably including multiple functions, areas of expertise, and global
Strong commercial and operational acumen to contribute to the company's business objectives beyond technology leadership.
Proven expertise establishing improvements in process and procedure, collaboration, partnership development, and knowledge transfer within a highly-capable and diverse organization.
Exceptional intellectual curiosity for emerging technology, trends and opportunities around the world relevant to the beverage packaging and specialties market segments.
Prefer a Masters Degree or PhD in Material Science or Metallurgy. MBA and/or business management experience is a plus. Other engineering or science degrees combined with experience may be considered.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
