Supervisory Visitor Use Assistant

Supervise a team of Visitor Use Assistants and work with overseeing the park-wide revenue and fee program. Plan, schedules and assigns work to subordinate staff and provide technical and policy direction. Provides leadership and technical advice to the Chief of Interpretation and other park managers on matters concerning collection of all non-appropriated recreational and non-commercial revenues, e.g., entrance and campground fees. Conduct audits and compliance checks as required. The employee is responsible for collecting appropriate fees at park entrance station, visitor center, campground, iron rangers, automated fee machine and/or other visitor contact stations following established accountability guidelines for handling government funds. The employee will operate an electronic cash register, computer or point of sales system, perform opening and closing shift functions, issues entrance receipts, tour tickets, park passes and federal recreation passports in accordance with established guidelines, and verifies entrance receipts and various passes for validity dates. The employee will complete shift reports to verify money collected, accountable stock sold and all machine transactions from the shift, using journal and receipt tapes, end of shift reports and a register of voided transactions. Safeguards and secures funds collected and personal accountable stock. Responsible for operating various systems such as OTCnet, Vantiv, VenVue and MS Word; along with being knowledgeable of Recreation Fee Guidelines (RM-22A) and Director Order-22 Fee Collection rules and regulations. The employee also prepares remittance reports and bank deposits for funds collected. Maintains necessary accountability records. Troubleshoots accounting problems by correcting difficult errors that are unsolvable by others which may involve correction of related reports. May perform reconciliations of credit card transactions and revenue generated through pay.gov, and/or national reservation service. Conducts cash register and entrance station audits as required. Operates fee collection computer software for reconciliation of funds. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either full-time (or 40 hours a week) or part-time with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
Managing a fee revenue program, providing leadership and technical advice to a management team, Conducting analysis and studies of financial and operational data for planning purposes, developing operating plans and procedures for a program, or serving as the principal representative on committees for cost recovery programs. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
