Position SummaryThe Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and direction of the general accounting functions.
The position oversees the close of the general ledger and elements of the close process with corporate and business constituents, oversees a third party provider handling some aspects of fixed assets and reconciliation activities, assists in coordinating yearly, quarterly and monthly financial reporting as well as coordinates, reviews and prepares schedules for internal and external auditors.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervise and provide leadership to Accounting teamPerform oversight in key areas to ensure highest level of work quality and compliance to internal controls and policies including providing timely, constructive feedback and coaching to team membersCoordinate the periodic close of general ledger which includes maintaining the close schedule, scheduling of subsystem feeds (if applicable), understanding the technical accounting supporting journal entries and actively engaging in communicating with business leaders and various corporate and business departmentsProvide accounting leadership to business/corporate constituents and drive development of processes to record various transactionsManage ad-hoc projects or policy/procedure changes, efforts to improve operational efficiency, communication needs, etc.
Responsible for data integrity and preparation of financial information to ensure completeness, accuracy, timeliness and accessibilityOversee maintenance of required general accounting supporting documentation including desktop proceduresAssist in preparing audit responses and review for internal auditors and/or external auditorsCoordinate with business partners on the preparation of post-close meeting presentations and provide support to post-close meeting reviewsFoster communication and teamwork within and across organizational boundariesMonitor and execute internal control procedures to ensure that company assets are adequately protectedAdditional duties assignedKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesBachelor degree in Accounting or related field is required5 - 10 years of progressive experience in a corporate Accounting environment is requiredCPA is preferredExperience working with third party service providers is preferredExperience in process improvement and/or project management is preferredKnowledge and understanding of U.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
